Selling Cyber Insurance

Key learning outcomes:

The Selling Cyber Insurance module’s learning outcomes have been specifically designed to increase broker knowledge and confidence in the cyber insurance product.

The module begins with a short “Cyber 101” discussion and is then followed by a quick refresher on the operation of Claims Made Policies and Loss Discovered Policies. Following the refresher, different parties to insurance contracts are examined in the context of their relevance to cyber insurance.

A meaningful amount of time is then spent examining numerous cyber covers and common differences to look out for between policies. This is followed by an explanation of some common technical terms, an analysis of what underwriters look for in cyber proposal forms, and a discussion about online platforms.

The unit then reviews common client objections to buying cyber insurance with responses to those objections. Following this, a meaningful amount of time is spent discussing cyber sales techniques and ways to engage with clients about cyber. The module concludes with some tips to build broker confidence with cyber. This module includes numerous interactive exercises.

There will be a short break in the middle of the unit. Time-permitting, a 10-question test will be conducted at the end of the training session.

Once this module is completed, the learner will be better equipped in Selling Cyber Insurance via a broader understanding of cyber covers as well as sales techniques and ways to engage with clients about cyber insurance and cyber risk management.
